Tom Gable, APR, Fellow PRSA
Tom Gable, APR and PRSA Fellow, is vice chair of Nuffer, Smith, Tucker PR, San Diego’s oldest public relations firm, which merged with his firm, Gable PR, in 2015.
Over the years, Tom has represented a range of clients throughout the U.S. from technology startups to Fortune 100 companies. His Guru Program® is registered with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office as a proven approach to building image and reputation for leaders and experts in almost any field of endeavor.
Prior to starting Gable PR in 1976, he was business editor of the San Diego Evening Tribune and a correspondent for The Wall Street Journal. He was nominated for a Pulitzer Prize for investigative reporting and holds many awards for PR, including four Silver Anvils. Tom presents regularly at PRSA and other conferences and contributes frequently to national business and marketing media on best practices in public relations and crisis communications. He has contributed to two international books on crisis PR and is working on the fifth edition of his book on agency management, The PR Client Service Manual. He was contributing wine editor of San Diego Magazine for 30 years and continues to freelance for different wine and travel media. He lives with his wife, Laura, in Del Mar, California. They have three grown children and six grandchildren.
