Served as Manager of Public Relations for the Building Products/Distribution Division from 1993 to 1996. Represented 242,000 building products to national print and electronic media with publicity efforts targeted to 1,400 consumer and trade media. Special focuses on product introductions, revenue-producing promotions, crisis communications, executive speech writing and special event coordination.
Hyatt Regency Atlanta
Served as Regional Director of Public Relations and Advertising from 1985 to 1993. Introduced and coordinated regional marketing efforts for 11 southeastern hotels involving comprehensive advertising, publicity, community and award-winning public relations programs. Special focuses on customized publicity events, revenue-building promotions, meeting planning and restaurant promotions.
Six Flags Corporation
Served as Manager of Public Relations for Six Flags AutoWorld in 1984 and 1985 for park’s inaugural year. Served as Assistant Manager of Public Relations for Six Flags Great Adventure in 1983 and 1984 working extensively with the media on publicity and crisis situations.
Educational Experiences
Graduate of Rowan University and the University of Georgia with B.A. and M.A. degrees in public relations. Served as 1981 and 1982 National Chairman for 4,300-member Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA) and Co-Chairman of Friends of PRSSA for 10 years. First inductee into the PRSSA National Hall of Fame and the Rowan University Public Relations Hall of Fame. Received the First Annual Distinguished PR Alumni Award from Rowan University. Taught public relations at Mercer University in Georgia and served in several leadership roles in the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA).
