Gail E. Rymer, APR, Fellow PRSA
Gail E. Rymer, APR, Fellow PRSA, has 45 years of experience in corporate communications managing multi-site communications programs, working in diverse environments including organizations under fire, public involvement on environmental issues, litigation communications, crisis management and marketing communications. Gail is currently the principal and owner of Gail Rymer Strategic Communications based in Knoxville, Tennessee.
She has led organizations and teams in strategic public relations, served as press secretary for a federal utility and provided communications counsel to senior management of a Fortune 50 corporation on issues ranging from environmental releases and health and safety concerns to sensitive issues such as workplace violence. Gail has developed and implemented programs on toxic tort litigation communications strategies, public involvement and key stakeholder relations including media and elected officials. She has also served as director of a Corporation’s Charitable Foundation and developed award-winning corporate-wide strategic community relations and public involvement programs and has received two PRSA Silver Anvils.
Gail’s employment history includes serving most recently as Director of Communications and Marketing, for the Tennessee Valley Authority where she led Public and Community Relations. Prior to TVA, she was with the Lockheed Martin Corporation for 23 years in increasingly more responsible positions including Director of Communications. Her career has also included working for The Arizona Republic newspaper, Director of Public Relations for a large metropolitan school district, and manager of marketing communications for a 15-state region for a large telecommunications company.
Gail is a graduate of Arizona State University with a Bachelor of Science in Business, Marketing.
